Since middle school, speech has been a major part of my life. I competed with my high school’s speech team for six years, placing second in Great Speeches at the state tournament my junior season. Through countless practices and tournamenets, I gained confidence as a speaker.
I now give back to the next generation of student speakers by judging invitational tournaments for my high school in Minnesota. I also recently became certified as a judge Iowa High School Speech Association, so I can judge local festivals while I’m in graduate school at the University of Iowa.
I have also spoken in classroom settings, both at the University of Iowa and UW-Madison. To see some of my documented speeches, see the links and clips below.
KYMN 95.1 FM interview
I had the opportunity to reflect upon my communications internship with the City of Northfield on KYMN. While this isn’t my standard way of giving speeches, this highlights my interview approach and speaking style.
My testimony
While interning at Good Shepherd, I had the opportunity to share my testimony, or “faith footprint.” The eight-minute video highlights faith’s role in my life.
Something small — something special
My senior year of high school, I was selected by my classmates to give one of Cannon Falls High Schools’ commencement addresses. From the front of the high school’s parking lot, I emphasized how the small things are often the most special.
